“We just had the good fortune to have found and used Critic’s Choice for our daughter’s wedding. Totally uncertain how to proceed with making the decisions for what we wanted, how the logistics worked or what it would cost, we made an appointment to sit down with Kaycie at their office, and as she went through what they do, the various packages they offer, helping us with obtaining rental tables, linens, glasses etc.. and the costs..the months of stress started melting away. It didn’t hurt that as we were having this meeting, Chef Stuart was providing samples of appetizers and main course items they thought we may want to use. His cooking is nothing short of phenomenal! Fast forward 6 months to 2 weeks ago and they pulled it off with perfection! On an empty lot with few services, they fed over 300 guests who loved the food..all served hot with a smile (my favorite, tri-tip with chimichurri sauce!!), service (many comments on how nice they all were), great mixed “house drinks” and great bartenders. Kaycie, Stuart and Critic’s Choice couldn’t have been better or more helpful throughout the whole process!!!”

“Critics Choice Catering & Event Production services for my Wedding Day on 8/18/18 were amazing! Kaycie Fellows was my Wedding Coordinator for the whole day, but she did way more than just that one day- she has been there for me since January of this year meeting with me, going over details, creating our timeline, checking in with me, being the POC for ALL my vendors, coming with me to tastings, creating a menu for us, and more! She really is a hands on professional executor when it comes to events! I really felt at ease knowing Kaycie was there for me, she was always available for me and her expertise in events is super impressive. “My husband and I just had the great pleasure of having Critic’s Choice as our caterer and Kaycie as our reception coordinator for our wedding this past weekend (8/3/19). Critic’s Choice was one of the preferred caterers for our venue (Malibu West Beach Club) but stood out from the pack for us immediately for the reasonableness of their pricing in terms of what they delivered. Then they blew us away from the very first (complimentary!) tasting. Kaycie had so many ideas for our decor and the food was FANTASTIC. She also threw in several complimentary booking bonuses for us! Once we booked, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that Critic’s Choice has great relationships with several other industry professionals (DJ, florist, bakery), which made the rest of our initial wedding planning a breeze. Throughout the planning process, Kaycie was extremely organized and on top of things. I’m an anxious over-planner type, and she was always quick with a response to my questions. Oftentimes I was asking about something she’d already taken care of! Then the day of, she could not have been more helpful in ensuring our reception went smoothly. Kaycie adapted on the fly from our original plans and delivered my husband and me cocktails and appetizers to the bridal suite during cocktail hour so we could have a moment of peace alone, she delivered us our drinks and dinner so we didn’t have to leave the sweetheart table, and she helped us readjust the timeline when I had a bustle emergency to make sure all our events got done by the time our first shuttle had to leave (PSA: don’t try jumping photos in a giant poofy dress that’s being held together by a couple of tiny hooks). And the food itself, from the quesadilla appetizers to the taco bar to the mini pizza late night snack, was amazing—we got lots of compliments! “The best choice that we made for our wedding was selecting Kaycie at Critic’s Choice Catering to design, produce, implement and cater our LGBTQ+ wedding at a Record Store. Throughout the entire process, Kaycie was decisive, knowledgeable, warm and a hands-down blast to work with. Kaycie understood our non-traditional vision and connected us with the best vendors in Long Beach to make it happen within our fairly tight budget. All night long guests were sharing about how incredible the service was and how it was the best food and open bar that they’ve ever experienced at a wedding. At Critics Choice, Kaycie is the Director. On our wedding night, Kaycie was directing, attending to our needs while also slinging drinks for our guests with outstanding service. “Critic’s Choice Catering crew provided two evenings of outstanding food choices, decorations, courtesy, and professionalism. We recently attended a wedding in LA. Critic’s Choice catered both the rehearsal dinner at Griffith Park and wedding reception at St. John’s Cathedral. I was amazed at what she was able to provide at the park. Kaycie and her crew transformed an outdoor space into a cozy and friendly environment where family and friends noshed on delicious food choices, complete with homemade dressing for the salad. Special touches, like candied pecans, roasted vegetables, and food choices for vegan and non-vegan alike spread out before the guests at the serving area under the trees.

The next evening, at St. John’s, Kaycie and her staff really showed how professional they are. I have attended enough catered events in the past forty years to identify those who are just event planners and those who are full-service planners/caterers. I could tell, mostly by the staff and their commitment to the direction Kaycie provided, that each worker there believed in Kaycie, followed her directions implicitly, and provided service to the guests with the utmost professionalism and courtesy. The service was well-thought through, smoothly and efficiently handled. While family pictures were taken, guests ate some light snacks and mingled outside while the catering crew transformed the sanctuary into a reception area, complete with beautifully decorated tables. Every detail was executed perfectly. The dinner food choices were matched to each guest’s request. The line flowed smoothly because of the employee who had a master list, by table, of each guest and his or her choice. Kaycie circled back to each table to ask about the food and the guests’ comments and concerns. She managed a balance between professionalism with an intense desire to serve the guests while interacting with them. I cannot say enough about how impressed I was with the weekend’s activities catered by Kaycie and the Critic’s Choice Catering & Event Production. “Excellent service for corporate events. A long overdue review for Lorraine Rice and her team at Critic’s Choice. We have used them now for three corporate events in the past two years for approximately 300-350 people at each event. They have provided us excellent service, wonderful food and beautiful decor! Our employees are not shy about giving feedback, both positive and negative, and Critic’s Choice received rave reviews on their food and presentation. When I first reached out to find an area caterer, Lorraine was one of two who bothered to respond and the ONLY one willing to work with our budget. In my experience, when you say corporate event, caterers tend to think unlimited budget. Lorraine worked with us and had great suggestions on how to maximize the food options and keep the budget under control. She communicates well via phone and email and doesn’t mind multiple questions. The first time we used them, we expected great food but we didn’t realize they would decorate the food tables so festively and we were very impressed. The staff are all friendly and accommodating. We’ve used them for two holiday events and one summer event, all different type of menus and locations. The appetizers, entrees and desserts have always been delicious and plentiful. The spaces we had to work with were challenging but Lorraine and her team were creative with the space planning. She is very positive when it comes to making things work and giving everyone a great experience. We will not hesitate to work with them in the future for our corporate events.”
